Mikhail Prokhorov received an honours degree in International Economic Relations from Moscow State Financial Institute. From 1989 to 1992, he was chief executive of the International Bank for Economic Cooperation, and in 1992–1993, CEO of International Financial Company. He headed Onexim Bank from 1993 to 2000, Rosbank from 2000 to 2001, and Norilsk Nickel between 2001 and 2007. In 2006, Mikhail Prokhorov was awarded the Order of Friendship for his significant contribution to the growth of Russia’s economic potential.

Irina Prokhorova graduated from the Philology Department of Moscow State University. Since 1992, she has been editor-in-chief of the New Literary Observer (magazine and publishing house). Holds a PhD in Philology. The New Literary Observer magazine won the Russian State Prize as the Best Educational Project (2002). Irina Prokhorova was awarded the Liberty Prize for contribution to the Russian–American cultural ties (2003), the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2005), and the Andrei Bely Literary Prize (2006).
